The
Executive Director of the Women NGOs Secretariat of Liberia (WONGOSOL), Madam
Esther Davis Yango, has commended the Executive Director of the Office for the
Establishment of War and Economic Crimes Court for Liberia (OWECC-L), Dr. Cllr.
Jallah A. Barbu, for the institution's continued logistical and technical
support to the organization.
Madam
Yango's commendation followed the presentation of a ten-seater conference set
by OWECC-L to WONGOSOL, aimed at enhancing the organization's working
environment and strengthening its capacity to effectively coordinate activities
among women's groups and civil society organizations across Liberia. She noted
that the support demonstrates OWECC-L's commitment to fostering collaboration
with key stakeholders in the pursuit of justice, accountability, and national
development.
According
to Madam Yango, the contribution will significantly improve WONGOSOL's
operational efficiency and provide a more conducive space for meetings,
consultations, and strategic engagements with partners. She emphasized that the
partnership between WONGOSOL and OWECC-L continues to serve as a model of
cooperation among institutions working to advance human rights, transitional
justice, and good governance in Liberia.
In
response Dr. Cllr. Jallah A. Barbu expressed appreciation to WONGOSOL for its
unwavering coordination and collaboration with OWECC-L in advancing the Office's
mandate. He highlighted the important role that women's organizations and civil
society actors play in supporting national efforts aimed at establishing the
War and Economic Crimes Court and promoting accountability across the country.
Dr.
Barbu further stated that the provision of the conference set is in line with
the Memorandum of Understanding signed between OWECC-L and WONGOSOL, which
encourages resource sharing, institutional cooperation, and mutual support. He
noted that strong partnerships remain essential to achieving the broader
objectives of justice, reconciliation, and sustainable peace in Liberia.
The
OWECC-L Executive Director reaffirmed the office's commitment to working
closely with WONGOSOL and other civil society partners to strengthen advocacy,
public awareness, and community engagement initiatives. He emphasized that
collaborative efforts such as these contribute meaningfully to building public
confidence in the process leading to the establishment of the War and Economic
Crimes Court and the National Anti Corruption Court
