KIGALI, Rwanda
—October 2026 —The Executive Director of the Office for the Establishment of
the War and Economic Crimes Court for Liberia (OWECC-L), Dr. Cllr. Jallah A.
Barbu (Prof.), joined fellow professors, academics, and distinguished guests in
Kigali, Rwanda, to grace the 20th Graduation Ceremony of the University of Lay
Adventists of Kigali (UNILAK).
Dr. Barbu
attended the graduation ceremony on Thursday, October 1, 2026, as part of the
ongoing institutional relationship between OWECC-L and UNILAK, following the
signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two institutions.
The ceremony
brought together academics, university authorities, distinguished guests,
families, and graduating students to celebrate the accomplishments of the
graduating class and recognize their academic achievements.
Dr. Barbu’s
participation in the ceremony highlighted the importance of academic
collaboration and the role of institutions of higher learning in promoting
knowledge, leadership, peace, justice, and societal development.
His
participation also formed part of his ongoing engagements in Rwanda, where he
is leading a high-level Liberian delegation on a continuing study visit focused
on gaining practical insights into Rwanda’s experience in transitional justice
and identifying lessons that could inform Liberia’s ongoing transitional
justice process.
