About National Union of Organizations of the Disabled (NUOD)

The National Union of Organizations of the Disabled (NUOD), often referred to as the National Union of Organizations of the Disabled of Liberia (NUODL), is the umbrella body representing organizations and persons with disabilities across Liberia. The union advocates for the rights, inclusion, and welfare of people living with disabilities and works to ensure equal access to education, employment, healthcare, justice, and public services.

NUOD collaborates with government institutions, international partners, and civil society organizations to promote disability rights, accessibility, and social inclusion. The organization also plays a role in policy advocacy, awareness campaigns, and empowerment programs aimed at reducing discrimination and improving opportunities for persons with disabilities throughout Liberia.

The union has been actively involved in advocacy surrounding the implementation of Liberia’s National Disability Act and the inclusion of persons with disabilities in national development and peacebuilding processes.
