About Liberia Council of Churches (LCC)

The Liberia Council of Churches (LCC) is a national ecumenical Christian organization founded in 1982 that brings together major Christian denominations and faith-based organizations across Liberia. It serves as a unified advocacy and mediation body promoting peace, reconciliation, justice, humanitarian support, and national development.

The LCC played an important role during and after Liberia’s civil wars by supporting peacebuilding initiatives, mediation efforts, and national healing programs. Through its network of churches across all 15 counties, the organization advocates for social justice, conflict resolution, democratic governance, and support for vulnerable communities.

The Council is also a member of the World Council of Churches and collaborates with international and local partners on issues affecting peace, human rights, and community development in Liberia.
