About Liberia Massacre Survivors Association (LIMASA)

The Liberia Massacre Survivors Association (LIMASA) is a victims’ advocacy and human rights organization in Liberia that represents survivors and families affected by atrocities committed during the Liberian civil wars. LIMASA works to promote justice, accountability, memorialization, and reparations for victims of war crimes and crimes against humanity.

The organization has been actively involved in campaigns supporting the establishment of a War and Economic Crimes Court in Liberia and regularly organizes commemorative events at massacre sites across the country. LIMASA also advocates for survivor support, national healing, and reconciliation while preserving the memory of victims of massacres such as the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church massacre and the Maher Massacre.

Its Executive Director Peterson K. Sonyah, is a survivor of the Lutheran Church Massacre and a long-time advocate for transitional justice in Liberia.
