Statement by: Mme. Rebecca A. Tarpeh, Board Chair, at a one-day dialogue organized by PUFPIL under the theme, “Fostering National Unity Through Inclusive Dialogue.”

For and on behalf of the PUFPIL Board, I’d like to extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to the Office of the War and Economic Crimes Court of Liberia for the partnership and support of PUFPIL.

People Uniting for Peace in Liberia (PUFPIL) was established to contribute meaningfully and thereby ensure the promotion and maintenance of respect for human rights, good governance, prevention of conflicts, and gender. One of their main objectives is the maintenance of peace.

PUFPIL has been in existence for almost 5 years, with chapters in 6 counties.

Thanks to everyone for honoring our invitation.

Transitional justice and peace is every Liberian business, regardless of our status, tribe, or religious background.

We want to ensure the Office of the War and Economic Crimes Court of Liberia of PUFPIL's commitment to the process.

I leave you with this: Only people who have space to heal can be able to build a functional democracy.
